And Dell is generating a huge amout of ill will . .
. . by refusing to replace boards preemptively in modest size firms, even those with just a few or hundreds of affected machines. You have to wait for them to fail, one by one, to get them fixed even though Dell knows they will all fail. A few chosen customers are reported to be gtting preemptive fixes.

Re: And Dell is generating a huge amout of ill will . .
Your statement about all of the systems failing is 100% incorrect. Dell only purchased 10% of the bad manufacturers stock. They then mix them in with all the other (4) manufacturers capacitors when manufacturing. A very very small percentage of systems will fail. The chance of one company getting higher than a 1% failure rate or miniscule.

Some of their customers are reporting differently, and . . .
. . having spent more than 20 years in manufacturing planning, quality control and manufacturing cost accounting, I'd be very surprised indeed if they mixed parts from different manufacturers or even different production lots all together. That would be a horrible violation of proper problem tracking and anyone who did that should be fired.
