The Pessimist was placed in a room full of toys. The Optimist was observed cleaning up his room and stacking the manure in neat piles. The Pessimist just sat forelornly in his room full of toys. When asked what he was doing, the Optimist replied, "There has to be a pony in here somewhere!" This phrase has gotten me through many crappy situations. (pun intended) I hope it helps.
