Just heard on the radio today. They're doing a eulogy for [link|http://www.jtbf.org/five_firsts/Motley_C.htm|Constance Baker Motley], the "first African-American woman appointed to the federal judiciary". And they said the same thing I just quoted in from the bio, "African-American".
Her parents are from the West Indies. In the Carribean. Nowhere close to Africa. She's either West-Indian-American, or she's black. You know, like she would have called herself.
