Comparison of US / UK - yes they have their ID proponents too; the difference is - in UK they lack the political power to force much serious attention (my summary).
Dissertation, reply to a Charlie query: what Dawkins thinks of the early molding of childrens' minds away from "seeking evidence" for an assertion - ie 'Belief without evidence is a Good Thing': he deems that "pernicious", especially at formative years.
(He didn't quote the Jesuits' ..give me a child til age 5. Might that be called, restraint?)
