New Could use a spare good wish or two
My sister has suddenly developed a seizure disorder over the last 6 months or so. We thought we had it under control with medication, but apparently not...about 6 weeks ago she seized while driving, and had a minor accident. Because the doctors cannot find anything during the exams she's had recently (She's of course perfectly fine in the doctor's offices, and there doesn't appear to be any residual damage that shows up on EEGs.) So now they're pulling out the big guns...instrumenting her brain and trying to induce a seizure, so they can identify where the source is. they of course want all of us to believe it's "no big deal", and it probably isn't...but you're messing with stuff that is not well understood, and from my perspective, there is some level of a "deal" going on here.

I know this isn't as worrisome as Spice's or Amy's or Chris's situation, but a good thought or two aimed in the general direction of Tampa (where the testing will be taking place) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx-

Share your trepidation.. exactly at the point where 'The Team' believes it knows Enough and now.. wants to make an er, 'adjustment'. But that's for another thread.

I'd suppose that, by now - setting up the sensors has been re-rehearsed so many times (since the early Frankenstein movies) that - the 'monitoring' part really should be a [I won't say That!] here - what do you take me for, insensitive?

Will light the small tapir labelled, "No Oops!, Please!"
Lots of candles lighted lately..

May 'Your Team' be bitchin, y'hear!

New Scott sent the first one, so here's the second

New don't worry, it's probably nothing...
and if it isn't nothing, it probably isn't much. :-)

The human body is amazingly capable self-healer. Perhaps it has in this case. One can hope. It's better than worrying about the alternatives (of which you could quite fanciful, but that's not worth dwelling on).
Have fun,

New Good point, and you're absolutely right.
I'm just waiting for some news...and not contemplating the alternatives. It's way too early for that!

New Best wishes on the way. Try not to worry too much.
I know of 2 people who had similar problems and treatment. One had no effect, positive or negative, and the other stopped having seizures as far as I heard. They moved away several years later, so I don't know how long it was good for. The state of the art has probably improved since then too. Try not to worry.

New OK...
Well, they got her "instrumented" (talk about tinfoil hats!), and removed her from her medication. It wasn't 24 hours before she seized. However, the nurse was right there, and managed to record the episode. I'm told that if she has another episode, they think that they will have enough data to perhpas isolate the location of origin. I haven't talked to her directly, but now that I have her phone number, I should be able to get in touch w/ her tomorrow (tuesday).

So far, so good....

New Yay!
Glad to hear good news. Hope positive answers are forthcoming.

We're all in this together. :)

New It is well to Believe in their 'instrumentation'
(Even shouldst thou despise!? - as doth moi) - their endless-loop tape of the word, medication.. medication.. medication.. (as appears to be a mantra burned into the hippo-campus of every fledgling nurse - - along with the Idolatry Address):
'Doctor' says..
(a vastly Different connotation methinks, than a simple "..the doctor recommends.")

Who knows? they may by now.. have gotten the tabulation of instrument readings down to a spreadsheet so simple - even a science-iggerant MD can make out a few significant trends! One Must hope that this is the case - and it is the argument for throwing caution to the wind and experiencing a moment of er, faith
(despite! one's experience of the AMA.. and its failed 'science majors')

Y'know?

Cheers

New See, fixed itself before I could even send any well-wishes..
--probably *because* I didn't! ;-)

Naah, seriously: Sorry I didn't reply earlier, good to hear about this progress, and let's hope she'll get fully well real soon.

Your lies are of Microsoftian Scale and boring to boot. Your 'depression' may be the closest you ever come to recognizing truth: you have no 'inferiority complex', you are inferior - and something inside you recognizes this. - [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=71575|Ashton Brown]
New typical
go to an expert with your complaint and the dang fool thing works as it should. Expert looks the other way and hey, it doesn't work again. gah. Don't tell me trouble isn't sentient. Glad the nurse was on the case to catch the episode anyway. Hope it leads to an "oh, it that all?" resolution.
Have fun,
Carl Forde
New Sister coming home from Hosp tomorrow.
Six (count 'em...6 seizures in the, what...72 hours she was there?...including one grand mal seizure that her husband (a former Hollywood, FL cop and ex-Navy Seal) had to hold her down while it ran its course. Now they will take all the data, crunch it, and see where the locus is. It looks like surgery is in her future... :-/

Thank you one and all for your thoughts, prayers and good wishes. I'm absolutely convinced it helped with the process (and she doesn't even know about IWEWTHEY...)!
