Just now on NPR, a boffin from a UK magazine, David Leermond (phon.) ofFlight International speaks to the question: coincidence or __?

Says, "I don't think these are coincidences ..."

These have occurred in countries where the 'safety culture' is not ~ as in N. America, or amongst the (premier?) airlines. He elaborates on what he means by 'safety culture', of course.

He closes with an exception to these implications

Ethiopian Airlines! breaks all the 'rules' -- unstable authoritarian govt. much local poverty etc. But a nonpareil safety record!

His guesstimate: It's the top employer of the country; pride of employees in doing their very best? if lucky to get one of these jobs; that plus a management as feels the same way.
