nope different a clear cover over the shiny part
to protect the shiny part while spinning in the player.

Oh,
I wouldn't think a clear cover would hurt the CD. Makes sense, actually. Mayhaps the CD industry will start putting them on themselves as a marketing tool.
Try this place to order their clear CD labels and give that a go.
