New A CD caddy perhaps?
It's been quite a while since CD-ROM drives used those though. I've got a ~ 1993 vintage 2x SCSI drive that uses a caddy.

Anything that goes on the disk itself might interfere with the laser focus, etc. I wouldn't recommend that.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Or just a CD label glued to the back side?
I remember hearing or reading somewhere (sometime long ago) that the tracks and pits which form the signal on a CD are actually so deep under the surface that they're closer to the *other* side, opposite the one they're read from, so scratches on the back side are actually a greater risk than from the (shiny) front.

If that is so, then it seems a simple glued-on paper (or better yet, plastic?) label, the thicker the better, should be good protection. But then again, maybe what I heard was total crap, so the idea is totally worthless. Sorry, I don't really have any idea which it is.

Your lies are of Microsoftian Scale and boring to boot. New Here ya go.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. :-D

New Oh,
I wouldn't think a clear cover would hurt the CD. Makes sense, actually. Mayhaps the CD industry will start putting them on themselves as a marketing tool.

Try this place to order their clear CD labels and give that a go.

HTH.

Peace,
Amy
