Vista? As in "Hasta la Vista, baby?" That name might be appropriate as a symbolic goodbye since it might be the end of the line for Microsoft's dominance in the OS business. ... Right now, and as much as x86 users do not want to admit it, the Mac OS is already better than Windows in its modern look and feel as well as its functionality. I see too many smart people with Mac laptops nowadays. Not to mention, if you buy a Mini you can just provide your own keyboard and mouse. You're stuck with a notebook, obviously, but like I said it's not that big of a deal. [link\|http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/mightymouse.ars\|Ars Technica] has a review, and in it they note that some of the features don't work under either Windows or OS X without a driver installed - and that no such driver exists under Windows. apt-get install godlike-powers

Dvorak agrees (as if that matters) regardless of OS partisanship, I have read this too many times to even begin to consider the truth of the claim I read discussions of how Win 95 was not a true 32 bit OS and how this would spell doom for MS in the long run how Win 98 was nothing new and 98SE wasn't even worth discussing how W2K would never catch on how ME sucked (it did but sold anyway) how XP was missing too many promised features to save MS etc etc etc from at least Win 3.1 to now the Mac OS (whichever one) has had proclaimed (or alleged) superiority let's not forget Netscape who was going to make Windows nothing but a seldom used icon in the corner of the Java-based desktop or Sun and the network computer or desktop Linux or ............. until the numbers are in, the rest is just wishful thinking (at best) A Play I Some Music w/ Papa Andy Saturday 8 PM - 11 PM ET All Night Rewind 11 PM - 5 PM Reggae, African and Caribbean Music [link\|http://wxxe.org\|Tune In]

[Well, root-cause == laziness of the mental kind re all \ufffd-stuff, natch - at least in my case] Friend just dropped off the e-machine box I had set up for her in '02. Carrying her Powerbook {envy}. She had gotten some use out of it 'til the inevitable Oops [re Real Player IIRC - foolishly d/ling an "Up"grade for no bloody good reason]. She had gotten that use, I believe 'cause it came to her dejunked, 98SE-lite, with a few Caveats listed for her, etc. Now it's sitting on the floor. It's a mere 500-PIII (but then, mine's a mere 600 of same series). Could be full backup por moi; just sneakernet a CD with data now and then... What could be easier to "extend the day of reckoning == ackshully get Apple #1"? Somehow though.. this time I'm not moved to even look at the sucker. Let it sit in a corner. Maybe someone I-don't-like will 'need' a cheap-shit box. There's No Joy to be had in configuring ANY Beastware box (not ameliorated by that tiny-pleasure of being able to ~dejunk it somewhat).
