Most of the Scared Straight-type programs are based on convincing the kid that there are badder people in the world, and that he really doesn't want to be among them. What do you do when the kid believes -- and with some justification -- that he is going to be the bad-ass that people don't want to be around?
Right now, what he wants is "things". He has found a way to get them. He is happy with the state of his life. The only permanent fix is for him to see that there are intangible things in life that will make him happier. And that he can't take those things from other people.
