So he's not going to do the final 3 episodes?
This one promises to be the end-all, be-all, out-with-a-bang finale! Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't he always said the Star Wars saga was a 9 parter?

It is a 9 part series.
But evidently, he wants to move on to something else.
And actually chronlogically occuring Movie from 1978 would be the next movie Star Warez... the Umpire Strikes Out and The Return of the JetPlane.
Then we get to the next set. Well, he doesn't wanna do them. I guess, when you have achieved $20 Billion in sales on something and you have been dealing with it since 1974... Well, I can see it.

According to Lucas, no
However, the original 9 part or 12 part series underwent a number of changes, where instead of having Leia be some other jedi who was the "other hope" he made her Luke's sister. The last three (7, 8, 9), were originally going to chronicle the "other's" path, but he changed it to blend them together into the first six.
Of course, I never believe Lucas, since he changes his mind frequently, but he does insist he isn't making more movies. He is planning on making two TV shows though, in the future.

Didn't I hear something about a TV series?
And don't forget syndication rights.
(I enjoyed the first installment - episode IV - when I first saw it in theatres. Mostly because it didn't try to tie all the loose ends together. Empire strikes back was ok, because Lucas didn't direct it, and it was sadistic. The New Hope is that Lucas will be sadistic with the sudden demise of those damn- goodie-two-shoe- meddling- know-it-all jedis.)

You heard right
I don't have the details in my memory, but I can go get a description of it if you want me to. (I enjoyed the first installment - episode IV - when I first saw it in theatres. Mostly because it didn't try to tie all the loose ends together. Empire strikes back was ok, because Lucas didn't direct it, and it was sadistic. The New Hope is that Lucas will be sadistic with the sudden demise of those damn- goodie-two-shoe- meddling- know-it-all jedis.) Your hope will be realized...this film is VERY sadistic, violent, etc. And your wish will be granted. Brenda

It's not very sadistic or violent.
It's a PG-13.

We all know that Evil will triumph...
...because Good is dumb. (semi-obscure reference)
I've kind of lost all sympathy with the Jedi in the last two flicks. Will kind of enjoy seeing them get their comeuppance. Die.Jedi.Die.
As a counterpoint, I've always thought it interesting that the master swordsman in Kurosawa's Seven Sumarai wasn't killed by a mightier swordsman. He was killed by a stray bullet. Stray bullets don't ever seem to do any damage in Star Wars as the Storm Troopers couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. But in real life, it's just a bunch of flying metal (or whatever emits from those guns they have) that can rip through anyone, worthy or unworthy. Even in times when hand-to-hand combat was more prevalent, mighty Achilles was brought down from a distance.
