New Yup. Sugar consumption begets insulin release.
The insulin then diminishes (in your bloodstream) as the sugar does. If the sugar was easily digestible, the energy spike is sharper and so is the corresponding insulin spike; your body overcompensates, and your sugar and insulin levels can drop below where they were before the sugar consumption. That lull can put you to sleep = food coma.
