New ARGGGHHH
I HATE CREDIT COMPANIES)(!*&#@%$(*&^%!@#($&*^%(*!&^@#$%(*&^%

In 1997, my exwife and I bought a car. 2 months later, she moves out and we go through a nasty divorce.

She takes the car, our divorce decree states she's responsible for it.

She stops making payments.

GMAC sues me and gets a judgement. I contact my ex who says she's taking care of it. (bad mistake) I contact GMAC and my Lawyer (scum sucking leech). Am told the contract on the car supercedes the divorce decree. Bend over time.

My wages get garnished. At the time, I was about to get married to my current wife, between the garnishment and child support, I had less than $200 per month to live on.

Car is now paid off(as of 12/99), everything's fine. Except the judgment on my credit report.

Trying to buy a car now, NOPE!

Tried to buy a house a few months ago, NOPE!

Our credit isn't terribly bad otherwise, a couple late payments in the past 2 years is it.

Just got off phone with GMAC, got a "sorry, life sucks" story.

Off to write Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion now.

Bastards.

There may be some lawyers who are not scum of the earth.

Certainly I'm not going to call the lawyer who draws up my will a scum of earth. (knock on wood) I'll call those who drew up the inheritance laws scum, but they are all lawyers, so nevermind.

They're all scum. Even if they are well-meaning scum.

New Who told you that?
You got an idiot lawyer...sorry.

The car loan should have been redone as part of the divorce decree and transferred to the ex.

You did not get your money's worth...pun intended (sorry)

New The obvious solution -- at least in a Merkin context:
[BeeP:] The car loan should have been redone as part of the divorce decree and transferred to the ex.
[Steve:] In fact, when I was getting divorced, I told him [Steve's divorce lawyer - CRC] that's exactly what I wanted to do.
Eh... You're an American, aren't you?

So what the heck are you waiting for, an engraved invitation?!?

Sue the bastard!!!
