Re: Hail, fellow Brit.
Thanks for the welcome. Never had a problem with the Yanks, we get quite a few in the factory. The Germans we get here are the one's that get up my nose. I know I shouldn't generalise and condemn an entire nation from a few examples, but their arrogance drives me nuts.
Never been to Teeside, is it anything like Tyneside? Cold? Shite beer? Women with beards?

That sounds like Oxford.
I've just been there for a week. What a pit.

I'm sure it's not intentional; it's just that it's hard...
...to be humble when you're a German in a technical profession, given that Germans are so much better at these things than anybody else. HTH!
Oh, and recht herzlich Willkommen -- uh, I mean, "welcome" -- from me too! :-)

If that is so, then how do we explain you??

So? Compare to Scott.
Or, going a different direction, compare to me. I was 33% nerd. Does anyone doubt my technical ability?
Aptitude and interest are not synonymous.

Not everything is a serious scientific statement, Ben.

I said, "technical", meaning...
...*real* technical stuff like building cars and other mobile machinery; not "technology", which seems to be the modern overall moniker for all that has to do with these here newfangled electronic data processor thingies. That's not a *real* technical profession -- heck, some of these things have *no moving parts* AT ALL!

Hmmm.
I just don't quite know how to take that.
I'll ASSuME it is a "good" thing.

Put it this way...
When Christian disqualified my using admin as an example of a non-German with technical skill because he doesn't work with hardware, I used you as my good example instead. Take that how you will...
BTW it is good that I wasn't citing you for verbal skill, because you'd have proven me a liar. :-P
