New DNS still not propagated to my home machine...
--

This guy's ahead of his time! He's using quantum programming methods: in universes where invalid data is passed to this function, it does not return. Thus you are ensured that you will only have valid data after calling it. Optimally you'd destroy the universe on failure, but computers haven't quite advanced to that level yet.

New Likewise here.

New It can take 2 weeks or longer...
Depending on how well your DNS servers are setup.

And much depends on how well those servers are maintained, monitored and kicked.

*MOST* ISPs are very lackadaisical (carefree) in the approach to any kind of DNS server.

If you must use *ONE* of the four machines I have (preferably 66.80.246.[ 66 | 91 ])

But only until you ISP wakes from its slumber.

New Re: Finally here, 11-20-04 10:30 PST
Ditto. Oddly enough, it came through once or twice at work during the past week (and current pages, gauged by the message timestamps), but the attempt to burrow came a cropper.

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New We have DNS response in Virginia, finally, too.
New 'bout time... Sheesh.
This is about as bad as it gets.

For some reason the Phasal method I used to have DNS servers on different Sub-net and functioning seems to have been my killing blow.

I should have just done it ALL cold turkey.

New I haven't unedited my host yet
John said we should go ahead and wait the full two weeks before trying.

I was trying to nail down the day of the move, wasn't it like the 9th or something? (Gonna look through more backthreads if no one remembers). I know I wrote Scott on the 10th, but I thought it first was down on the 9th.

That would make it the 23rd, for it to be a full two weeks.

New Yes. 23rd.
And, I did ask my registrar to kick the DNS propagation for my nameservers.

Evidently they found a couple of conflict. I didn't own my nameservers and couldn't change them... even though I was hosting the zones. I dunno, but things popped ~ 1:30PM Saturday the 20th.

Just make sure you test to make sure.

You could try [link|http://www.iwethey.org|WWW.IWETHEY.ORG], if it resolves... then you should be good.

New "www.iwethey.org could not be found...."
Guess it'll be the 23rd at this rate.
New Re: Yes. 23rd.
I get the Temporary Home Page, is that what I'm supposed to get?

I'm still gonna wait and have John do it when he gets off work next week to be safe. I don't know how to change that stuff myself.

New If you got:
Welcome to the temporary homepage for IWETHEY.org!

Then you are good to go. You see we used to be hosted sort-of temporarily at a couple of IP Addresses.

New Yep, that's what I got :) Guess it's propagated here
John went ahead and unedited the host file, but he showed me how to put it back if for any reason my access comes and goes like some people here have said theirs is. :)

Thanks, Greg!

New Re: Yes. 23rd.
Resolves here (Northeastern Ill; Chicago 'burbs!). I'll try it at home tonight.

New Lucky. Still not here.
Internic or Comcast?

Either way, it sucks.
New Seems to be here
But it came and went so I'm sticking with hosts for a while.
New Reached me 11/20

New Got it here (finally)
But my father-in-law tried to show it to people at work yesterday and still didn't see it. Will check again Monday. [sigh]

New It actually seems to be coming and going on my home machine
It worked for a few days, then it didn't, then it came back for one day then it died for a couple and now it's working again.

I suspect it has something to do with Comcasts sucky DNS service.
