This is what you need to do with children who create a mess. 2) There's a chance that, as a result, both parties will see shakeups and we'll end up with (dare I say) a palatable choice next time. I expect him to just make his mess a lot worse, but by then it'll be pleny obvious it's got to be fixed who's fault the mess is.
