We gave the bombs to Isreal, so we won't have to do the bombing ourselves.

The article mentions using Israel as a proxy.

Missed that bit
I missed the bit about using Israel as a proxy.
If he can't conceive of the US using Israel as a proxy he has some sort of serious mental problem. I wonder if he can conceive of the sky being blue or walls being solid.
I'm guessing though that the word he meant to use was "inavoidable."

I do not think that word means what he thinks it does.

The US invent history
Three years ago, the idea of invading Iraq was inconceivable.
Matthew Greet
But we must kill them. We must incinerate them. Pig after pig, cow after cow, village after village, army after army. And they call me an assassin. What do you call it when the assassins accuse the assassin? They lie. They lie and we must be merciful to those who lie. - Colonol Kurtz, Apocalypse Now.

What, 10 years after the 1st time?
We already had invaded Iraq. Hard to undo that or consider it inconceiveable since we were flying over and bombing them for years...before this "neocon junta"

Re: What, 10 years after the 1st time?
Three years ago, the bombing and sanctions were criticised for being gung-ho and too damaging to the Iraqi populace. The US and UK governments claimed this was to punish Saddam for not complying with weapon inspectors. There never was any talk that he might be a threat to anyone or that military containment wasn't working. Three years ago, Saddam and terrorism meant Saddam terrorising his own people.

Disengenuousness, thy name is BeeP?
Calling a course of action "inconceivable" in the course of analysing it is the same rhetorical device as saying "not to mention" right before mentioning something.
Yes, 14 years ago, in the middle of a spectacularly successful debellatio of Saddam's army, and with every prospect of clear sailing for more than half a million troops all the way to Kurdistan if we had wanted, invading and occupying Iraq was deemed "inconceivable" in that same rhetorical sense.

Translation, please...
I take it, Peter, that "full stop" is Brit for "period"?
