New Lard, get thee hence to the Hispanic neighborhood grocers
got both lard and tallow, and for you youngsters out there, you havnt had a real freedom fry unless you have had them cooked in tallow. Agreed on the paprika, hungarian is good if available, the Goya product is somewhat serviceable if you cant get hungarian. Most people also think the saffron for $2.00 per jar is real saffron, well its the same color.

New "Tallow"?
What do you mean when you say that? My local chippy uses beef dripping to fry in. Most delicious.

New Yeah, tallow is made from beef . . .
. . but most Americans associate the word with "pre-revolutionary" *** candles made therefrom.

*** I use the term "pre-revolutionary" advisedly in full knowledge that the so called "American Revolution" was actually a pre-corporate "hostile takeover" run by a few local "business men" and general trouble makers - with great risk calculated on greater profit (and in John Hancock's case, kissing off a significant debt to the British Crown - signing his name so large on the "Declaration of Independence" that King George could "read it without his specticles").

One of these days you Brits are going to learn not to export your criminals (America: got out before the police came, Australia: after the police came).
