Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Playing Devil's Advocate.
Have you ever tried to closely listen to two people talking simultaneously? It's very difficult. It's very easy to get confused.

Yes, there was something under his jacket. It may have been all sorts of things. I cannot believe, though, that it was something that would allow GWB to get tips or pointers from handlers. Radio receivers can be *tiny* these days. Why would they need something that big if Bush was going to be listening to directions? If it needed to be that big, why wasn't it hidden in his pants rather than on his back?

My vote is that it had something to do with a bulletproof vest or something else that would need to be around his chest.

My $0.02.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Playing Devil's Advocate to your Devil's Advocate
Experts in this sort of thing have pointed out that Bush's odd speech patterns that night were exactly those of someone attempting to listen to someone else while speaking.

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
New Bush's speech patterns have been odd since ... ;-)
I have to chuckle to myself when I see some of the speculation that goes on about Bush and the Republicans sometimes. Those who want to make Rove into a superman are doing themselves a disservice.

I don't think we'll ever know what the box on his back was. That's part of what makes it so entertaining to speculate about.

Was he wired? I don't know, but I doubt it.

Scott.

New No, no. It's an Invisible Fence collar.

Bush: "How does an electrical -- please explain to me how it works so maybe if I were ever to debate again I could figure it out. I guess the assumption was that if I was straying off course they would, kind of like a hunting dog, they would punch a buzzer and I would jerk back into place. I -- it's just absurd."

Cheers,
Scott.
New ROFArfing

New Not when you include a jammer
Assuming it was a receiver, that's one signal that they would take any available precautions to avoid having it intercepted. If that requires a jammer device they'd use it.

Implicitly condoning stupidity since 2001.
New Frequency hopping would take care of that. ;-)
