"If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words." -- Philip K. Dick, US science fiction writer
New Yeah boy

New As evidenced by...
... this little ditty:
"...airline spokeswoman Carol Skornycka. She said she didn't know exactly what the writing said but was similar to a prayer, 'something of a contemplative nature.'"

Reminds me of a Ryan Adams (or was it Rufus Wainright.. shit!, anyway) bootleg I have. He covers a song. Its in French. He doesn't speak French and has no idea what the song says, but the mere fact that it is French leads him to say its a beautiful love song.

In his case it was funny...

... almost makes me want to scribble my own "contemplations" next time I'm on a flight just to exploit the insanity of the system... assuming I'm in no rush to get home, of course.

thanks
mx.

New Somewhere, somehow
someone is laughing at America.

The real problem is, he's not a very nice guy.

"The struggle for the emancipation of the working class is not between races or religions. It is one of class against class. Every trace of anti-Semitism, or any form of race hatred cannot assist the oppressed, it can on the contrary only aid the exploiters. Workers of all nationality, religion or creed must stand together against the common enemy: capitalism."
-Ted Grant
New Here I thought you were referring to
the London flight carrying Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam story from yesterday.

New Doesn't even have to be "arabic"
English will do nicely too

Ninety minutes after taking off from Sydney Airport, a flight attendant on a United Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles found an airsickness bag -- presumably unused -- in a lavatory with the letters "BOB" written on it. The flight attendant decided that the letters stood for "Bomb On Board" and immediately alerted the captain, who decided the risk was serious enough to turn the plane around and land back in Sydney.

As [link|http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-0409230227sep23,1,998865.story?coll=chi-news-hed|this] demonstrates nicely
MIDWAY AIRPORT -- Passengers on a Southwest Airlines plane in Chicago were delayed for more than an hour Wednesday because of a bomb threat written in a magazine, security officials said.

The threat was found by a passenger during boarding at Midway Airport of a flight to San Diego, said Amy von Walter, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration.
