When I jiggered my knee, whilst out running, I made the mistake of NOT icing it, but instead getting into a nice hot bath.
While this felt good at the time, it didn't do anything to take down the swelling and this meant I spent a good couple of weeks longer than I needed to being gimpy.
Stuff That Worked For Me:
1. Ibuprofen. Excellent pain relieve, got the swelling down.
2. Neoprene knee brace. Did it up nice and tight, kept me mobile and at work.
