All this supposedly BEFORE we invaded Iraq? Quousque tandem abutere, W, patientia nostra?
Does our intelligence community no longer have the capability of quickly assessing huge trench-digging program-related activities on the ground, like they used to could back in 1962?
Or maybe the intelligence chiefs failed to provide the top political leadership with a short and sharp enough list of specific action items to take?

I have an idea for this Iraq War's monument when we get around to it, a nod to Shelley: two vast and trunkless legs of stone in a desert setting. Near them, on the sand, half sunk, a shattered visage... whose frown, and wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command... well, you get the picture.
