Welcome to IWETHEY!

New www.msn.com closed for Mozilla, Opera
Try it.

When you instruct Mozilla to pose as IE, the page is rendered fine.
New Strict check for browser.
Even if Opera/Linux is in IE mode, it still won't display it.

Besides - who wants to go there anyway?

Wade.

New Well...
...just to point out that MS has not changed it's behaviour, and will likely never tolerate the existence of even potential competition. Monopoly holder or not, convicted or not, appeals denied or not, waiting for sentencing or not.

Behavioural remedies will likely be useless. Fine MS, and they will pay, shrug, and consider it a cost of doing business (much like they considered the loss of market to MSN sites to be a cost for maintaining thier monopoly position) and continue thier proven illegal and abusive monopolistic behaviour.

It's not something independent, or new. It would just support the prosecution. Something drastic will have to be done to Gates & Co.

I favor jail time for the corporate officers. *grin*

  • Even though everyone is out to get you, it doesn't matter unless you let them win.
New That's a hard one to solve.

"All around me are nothing but fakes
Come with me on the biggest fake of all!"

New Monopoly leveraging.
1) Microsoft has been found to have a monopoly on the "desktop" market, that is, the machines most commonly used to browse the internet.
2) Microsoft has bundled a browser into said desktop monopoly product.
3) Microsoft now disallows other browsers - the most likely competition, by _name alone_ from receiving data from their MSN ISP pages, thus disallowing competing product use.

Monopoly leveraging. Big, Bold, Unchanged from what they got convicted for.

ah, how do you tell Mozilla to pretend to be IE? I've just run through the preferences dialog and don't see it there or in prefs.js or liprefs.js

Have fun,
Carl Forde
New I guess they're not worried about Galeon
Works fine. Or is that my Junkbuster string? Not sure.

What part of "gestalt" don't you understand?
New Microsoft redefines XHTML compliance...
because MSN isn't W3C compliant. See [link|http://validator.w3.org/|http://validator.w3.org/].
Microsoft Outlook - one, big, macro virus portal.
New Did you really have any doubts?
In MS's eyes, "compliant" means "displays the way we want it to look in the latest version of Internet Explorer - all others need not apply." Could be a good shitfight if the W3C decide to riposte with "Well, msn.com *isn't* compliant - and if it were, there are lots of browsers that would display it correctly, not just IE."

New Re: U-turn on Opera, Mozilla support
Wasn't working with M0.9.2.1 until just now, I tried it earlier to show my brother. It works with Konqueror, too. now.

New Fixed, sometime in the wee hours.
Warpzilla 0.9.5 works fine now, and Netscape 4.61 is accepted, but appearance is incomplete.

New VBScript?
If they really wanted to do whatever evil thing they're accused of here they could have built the site entirely with VBScript
don't all your browsers refuse to use this 'on principle'?

New Not that stupid.
They need a retrench position. Using all VBScript wouldn't allow that.

It's much harder to rewrite the entire site than simply check the client id string.
