New a lot is due to nutrition and rationing
during the hundred year war due to blockades and demand the brits and french lost lost about 4 inches in average height. Dunno about Americans shrinking, all my gets are taller and heavier than their peers by about a half head. My gentle Giant is the tallest and heaviest player on his under 6th grade (12 and under group) he is 9 in the 3rd grade. Football coaches keep going "I want."

New My offspring too
I got a local PeeWee Football team waiting for him to turn 7 so they can recuit him. He is only 5 and is 4 foot 2, and 90 pounds. Very strong too, can lift up other 5-year-olds like a rag doll. I am trying to teach him not to do that and to watch his strength around other kids.

Taller and heavier than I was at his age. If it continues he will be 6 feet by age 12.
