Dr Seuss would have been 100 today.
Those are the good books for kids.

Ooooo! Sneetches are the best!
I recently repurchased that book because I thought it was the BEST Seuss book I ever read, and my old childhood copy seemed to have disappeared. ;)

Denver Post had interview with his widow
She manages his estate, licensing, etc. She thought the Grinch was OK, but she's furious about the Cat in the Hat movie. She wants to license more animation but she's nixing any more live action stuff.
Have recently watched the Seuss/Chuck Jones collaborations of Grinch and Horton Hears a Who. Those are really brilliant (and the Lorax remains my fave). They're shorts, like his books.

Couple from Solla Sallew
A couple from my favorite, "I had trouble in getting to Solla Sallew"... there are many many great ones in there :)
"So I learned there are troubles of more than one kind: Some come from ahead and some come from behind"
"This is called teamwork: I furnish the brains, You furnish the muscles, the aches and the pains."
"Have you ever ?? when your toes were like ice, with a family of owls and a family of mice? I tossed and I turned and I flipped and I flepped; it was quarter past five till I finally slept."

Fun Dr. Seuss joke
Have Fox in Socks. That's a great tonguetwister book. Give it to a friend to read to your kid without pointing out the tonguetwister part--it says it right on the cover, but people tend not to notice. It starts out sounding like regular Seuss, but when you get to luke's duck liking to lick lakes and through three cheese trees three fleas flew while freezy breeze blew, it's pretty wonderfully awful. This was actually my favorite seuss book to read to my daughter, because gave me something to think about, moreso than Big A Little A What Begins with A Aunt Annie's Alligator A A A.
Oh Say Can You Say is worse, but the title sort of gives it away, so it's harder to play this joke.
(if you'd told me 10 years ago that I could write this sort of post, I would have laughed at you).

'Toy boat'
No, seriously. Try to say it out loud as quickly as you can. How many times can you go before screwing up?
