New Re: Bush releases Guard records
As you linked before, he was in the ARF paper outfit. Yes he got paid. In fact all the released documents prove is that he was in the guard without being on regular guard duty! This makes the ARF story almost certainly fact.

edit: the document in Mehaffy's original linked page is identical to this one on the Wash Post site:

[link|http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/daily/graphics/bushNaGuard_page3.pdf|http://media.washing...NaGuard_page3.pdf]

I would say the rapid action to get these documents in front of the press, was a deliberate response to that ARF theory. If the press had discovered this *first* it would have looked even worse for Shrub. I mailed the "Imus in the Morning" producer a pointer to that page - so they passed up a real scoop!

New Looks that way
I noticed that the records where found at the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Colorado. That makes perfect sense if Bush was in an ARF unit based in Denver, and little sense for records from a Texas or Alabama unit.

New Actually it makes good sense
When I worked at the Page Records Center in St. Louis, there was an overflow of records, and they were having problems storing records. Records are not stored in the state you served, not really, not unless they are current ones. Past records are shuffled to actual Records Centers like the one on Page.

When I left the Page Center, (wasn't there too long), they were making arrangements to move overflow records and other paperwork to other Records Centers. They were also trying to break up the military classes and not try to store all the different branches of the service in one place at a time.

My guess is they moved the Reserve records to Colorado because they had space, or maybe that was where they decided to put reserve records in the future.
