Spot the fake smile
I scored a miserable 8/20 on this [link|http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/smiles/index.shtml|test]. How 'bout you?

Spot the fake test.
Is that a *real* contrived smile or a fake contrived smile? You decide. Candids would have been better.

How do you know they weren't candid?
They could have taped real responses to people genuinely amused and told the fakes to just give their best grin. Just because they were recorded doesn't mean that they weren't genuine.

Apparently I'm fairly good at it. Which is probably why I'm so cynical about other people.

Re: I got all the ugly and ethnics right missed the white fo
The only one that I had to think much about was the Chinese girl. They just don't have expressive eyes - must be the facial muscles being very tight. The Fijian had me totally fooled. The really homely girl just didn't have much of any expression at all.
I wonder to what extent a person's outward appearence is a consequence of their inner arrangement.

Not good 11/20
Was wondering if most were fake because of how they 'smile' ended.

Re: Not good 11/20
That's the key! You can't just "end" a real smile. Think of Steve Martin with an arrow in his head and then try to go stonefaced :)

14 based on unattractiveness factor
If the smile made the person look worse than not smiling - I figured it was probably genuine. Sounds like a goofy rule but seemed to serve well.
