The organized religions are extensions of bizness, the root faith of capitalism, whose creed includes the idea that things are what is important: amassing, disposing of, and guarding same (and gloating as the pile grows).
At least if one takes Catholicism and its history as the representative example.
Then Protestant off-shoots could be regarded as rival political factions, etc.
I haven't thought about this too deeply, but even so I think it's a better comparison than to business.
