I'm very happy with my Canon A70. But digital cameras are very much a price/performance matter: the more you can pay, the better the camera will be.

You need to pay attention to the megapixels of the camera (5MP is equivalent to 35 mm film IIRC) and the optical zoom. Disregard digital zoom.
