New History speaks: the effectiveness of protests
[link|http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/005151.php|You can't always get what you want]

Excerpt:

Someone struck up "We Shall Overcome," and a leggy blonde near Ruddock called out, "It's taking a bloody long time."

I say:

This was in 1984. Five minutes of hate didn't do the trick. Neither has twenty years' worth.

Maybe these guys should just get over it.

DEAL WITH IT.
Compromise is for suckers. Seeking a middle ground is what led to 9/11.
"I do not want to be admired by scumbags and liars and wife beaters. I want to be admired by good and decent, intelligent and just people, and in order to achieve this I need to do things that make me despised by their opposites." - Bill Whittle
Never mind all the mass graves. Where's the nerve gas?

New You still here?

"I believe that many of the systems we build today in Java would be better built in Smalltalk and Gemstone."

     -- Martin Fowler, JAOO 2003
New About 228 years ago
There was a protest, wheihc turned into a series of protests, which turned to a prolonged act of terrorism.

Maybe those guys should have just gotten over it?

You, however, really ought to [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=127000|get over it].

New the game ain't over yet
But it can be—if we let the phil-bot shrivel in silence.

cordially,
Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist.
New It's all over but the Left's desperate attempts at spin.
And in the end you'll lose that little war, too.

American democracy has already outlived Soviet Communism, despite starting much earlier. Red China exists on our sufferance. Like the Soviet Union before them, they [link|http://apnews.myway.com/article/20031120/D7UUK67G0.html|can't even feed their own people.] The Left's track record is shit. And Islamofascism is fighting a defensive action now, and doing poorly at that. They're so desperate they're soiling their own nest. It's the twilight of the assholes.

And all losers like you have to say is a lame "just you wait." Well, we already just waited. Now we're acting. Just you watch.

But hope springs eternal, even if it is just the petty false hope of the envious, a schadenfreude fantasy. You'd like to see the world go to hell just to prove you right, but what if the world doesn't want to go to hell? What if the world has had enough of hell?

It's sad when you can only find comfort in hopes that things will change for the worse somehow. The worst is already over. The worst ended when we adopted the strategy of fighting back, and fighting for keeps. That turning point was two years back. 9/11 was when we hit bottom. Now we're knocking down the tin god tyrants, one by one. Your trampled ego's only prayer is for another weak-willed US president to come along. And even that might not do the trick. Because, you see, it's not just Dubya. It's at least half of the American people.

In the world of people who both think and act, the Left is scarcely represented at all. In the world of people who neither think nor act purposefully... well, that's a moot point.

New Re: History speaks: the effectiveness of protests
I'm not sure what your point is, this is Democracy in action. They felt one way, more disagreed.

Other democratic protests have been more successful.
