They had this thing for spelling words like cooperate with umlauts, er, [link\|http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:mbid-NEVKSUJ:www.eece.unm.edu/faculty/chaouki/papers/advice.ps+dierisis&hl=en&ie=UTF-8\|dierisis] (scroll down). It still looks weird to me, but I can see some (limited) sense in it. Cheers, Scott.
