State agency might redefine `work'
The Texas Workforce Commission is attempting to redefine the word "work" in a way that could cut off Medicaid benefits to thousands of Texans who don't follow a list of state behavioral rules.
[...]
The rule would expand the definition of "work" to include such things as maintaining children's immunizations, avoiding drug and alcohol abuse, and making sure children attend school.
Adults who fail to live up to any of the items on the list would lose Medicaid coverage. Their children would not be affected.

Tejanos! Will their stupidity never cease?
Actually, I may be painting with too broad a brush...so for Spice's sake, let me redefine the headline as:
Tejano Republicans! Will their stupidity never cease?

Careful
Both Admin and Yendor might jump down your throat for "attacking" Tejans.

WHO?!?
Yendor has (IIRC) no love lost for Tejanos; I don't know that Scott has expressed an opinion (but IIRC, He is no fan of abject stupidity, either).
It's Spice who gets upset about blanket condemnation of Tejanos. I try to remind him that there are Texans, and People from Texas; it's the former that I tend to have problems with.
(Being an expatriate New Messican, I'm allowed...)

Consequences for failing to do what you should! Oh my!
Can't have that, can we?
The semantic gamesmanship of the implementation is annoying, but that's a minor matter. Aside from that, I wonder what sort of person would object to this?
Excerpt:
The state Department of Human Services was unsure how many people might lose Medicaid benefits if the rule were adopted.
The proposal would make Medicaid rules match the personal responsibility agreement that Texans must sign before receiving cash assistance.
I say:
Doesn't matter how many, so long as know it's the kind that deserve to lose them. Maybe it'll wise them up. Then they'll start being responsible parents, and get their seat at the public trough restored to them. That's a win-win.
As for the kids, put them in foster homes. With parents like these, that's a step up.
Yes, I'm well aware that foster homes suck. But parents that won't even do these things suck worse. They're only "parents" in the strictly biological sense.

Whose "should"?
Yours?
There is no fucking way I'd ever do you you say I "should", except by sheer accident.
But you go right ahead defining the "proper" value of "should" for the entire world, sempei-marlowe. I'm sure we'll all listen, and the world will be a better place for it, because you know oh-so-much-more than everybody else...
...NOT...

God help your kids, then.
`Coz if you don't care for "my" notion of "should" on these particular issues, you'll be a worthless parent. Maybe even criminally negligent.
I guess if you were ever to admit I'm right on anything, you'd melt into a puddle of black goo. And your flying monkeys would be free at last.

Fortunately (for both of us)
You, shitferbrains, don't get to be the final arbiter of my "success" raising kids!
Maybe, rather than being oh-so-holier-than-thou about how any of us reais our kids, you should spend a little quiet time comtemplating how you will raise your kids....once your reach puberty.

I've rarely seen a communist perspective argued with such strength of conviction. Kudos Marlowe!
