Who didn't see this coming
[link|http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/10/05/rec.bush.tax.cuts/index.html|Bush has a plan]
Bush has prepared his recomendation to solving the lagging economy. The first one didn't work so we need another one, the fact that we are facing years of hightended expenses doesn't matter.
He's going for the big one to, he wants to repeal the alternative mininum tax for corporations. This is one of the biggest possible free rides for large corporations, since many pay nothing but this tax.

I guess I didn't...
But then, I failed to see the logic of the first "tax cut", when the majority of Americans diddn't want a tax cut, but rather wanted to protect Social Security and pay down the debt.
But then, I guess Republicans don't count people...they count proxies.

Majority?
Don't think so.
[link|http://www.gallup.com/poll/releases/pr010214.asp|In the abstract, Americans usually favor tax cuts (for more than 25 years, 70% or more of respondents have told Gallup they favor a cut in federal income taxes)]
It then becomes an essay on how how you ask the question.
If you say "Do you want a tax cut or do you want to save Social Security?" then the issue becomes muddy...and the questions asked are misleading in the first place. They are generally asked as either/or...when it is quite possible to do both and/or all at the same time.
But if you ask the direct question..."Do you think the government should lower taxes?"...the answer is always a resounding yes.

Of course.
Democracy works until the people realize they can vote themselves a tax cut and a raise at the same time.
