In search of the true Nietzsche.
[link|http://www.lrb.co.uk/v25/n18/disk01_.html|There's less to his thought than meets the eye.]
Excerpt:
Nietzsche wrote in Beyond Good and Evil that the task of 'free, very free spirits' was to translate 'man back into nature' after tradition had scribbled and painted over the original text. The job of translating Nietzsche's thought back into its original form after Elisabeth got her hands on it has been very similar. But it has to be said that concepts such as \ufffdbermensch and Herrenmoral lent themselves to becoming the bedrock of National Socialist philosophy. It wasn't exactly a case of a liberal democrat being forced into bed with National Socialism, though Nietzsche clearly would have hated Hitler. The problem, J.P. Stern suggests, is that Nietzsche was too non-political to see how his thoughts about the way individuals should conduct themselves might be used by something very nasty indeed. Stern, at least, does not let Nietzsche off entirely; he must take some blame for failing to pursue the consequences of his ideas.
I say:
And this is exactly why Nietzsche is not to be taken seriously as a philosopher. The guy just didn't think things through. It's like he was drunk on his own ideas. (Bright, colorful, blurry ideas. The colors, man, the colors!) Maybe he was too infatuated with himself, in his precious pose as a courageous dissenter to pretty much everything that had passed the test of time, to even figure out what constructive dissent even means. (Hint: it looks nothing at all like [link|http://www.duke.edu/~pms5/humor/argument.html|this]. Let alone [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=118049|this].)
Human, all too human.

Philosophy always has less than meets the eye
It tries to explain magic, myth, and fear of fear with logic instead of religion. A philosopher is a prophet of a religion of one . example: How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Neitche, there are no angels to dance on pins, this makes it a boring world I should kill myself. Sartre, whether angels can dance on pins is not material to the diadetic Bill, twelve, why?

Oh, is that what that is?
I always thought logic had something to do with deriving truths from observed data by means of trustworthy rules of inference. Boolean transformations in particular, though I'm hardly averse to statistical analysis. Deduction and induction both work for me, though I find the latter more useful in real world situations.
But if the disjointed, contradictory ramblings of a couple of lunatics counts as logic, then I guess I should throw out my dictionary. Maybe Brandioch can lend me his.

with logic I can prove your cranium is flat
Scientific investigation might well prove it is pointy instead. Logic can prove/disprove anything which is why it is interesting to watch but never bet money on it. thanx, bill

Ah, that sorta explains it then
Still lookin fer Truth via logic and those famous Facts, eh? (Maybe in the same place as that Objective Morality\ufffd - if you just get the algorithm Righteous-enough and hold yer mouth just-so.)
{sigh} -- if they let you live another 20, 30 years, then maybe -
Uhh - maybe not. Some wetware hardens completely during the Tyro phase.. All that's left then is: late-night Tee Vee, explainin to the invisible audience exactly What God Wants You to Do.. (lessn' ya wanna fry for umm not-listening-to-Me.)
WTF - it's a living, kinda.
But hey.. I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone who might evade it! - so here's hoping you manage to get through these Doldrums of Dead Certainty, before the jelloware sets up permanently.
Pullin fer ya..

No, there was slightly more to him than that.
You don't get syphilis that way.
