New Why should the wilfully stupid get a free pass?
Evil is as evil does. And willful stupidity has consequences indistinguishable from those of evil intent. We presume that there are different psychological mechanisms underlying the two, but that's merely an assumption, and scarcely pertinent even if true.

Oh, and the bloodbath of the French Revolution was very much the product - [link|http://www.rjgeib.com/thoughts/french/french.html|indeed the firstfruits] - of Leftist political thought. It was Robespierre gave Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot the idea in the first place.

When you can lend moral support to a civilization that [link|http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,439213,00.html|goes out of its way] to avoid needless offense to even failed cultures, against one that [link|http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/WO0305/S00209.htm|murders people by the tens of thousands], then maybe you'll have the right to preach. Until then, you're full of shit. Wilfully stupid, evil, it's all the same to me. Whatever, it's what you are.

And so was Rachel Corrie. She actively and knowingly supported the smuggling of weapons in the Gaza Strip to kill Jews. [link|http://www.ultimatetaxi.com/board/messages/3306.html|She was shit], and now she's dead shit. And only another shit would defend what she did.

New Hey, you just described Ghandi
Oops, wrong button.

Since when was I discussing left and right? I was talking about decision-making in a moral vacuum... like the decision to recruit the people who did the killing and the torturing in Saddam's regime to help out the Bremer regime.

From a strictly technocratic perspective, it makes sense; they were very clearly efficient at keeping order in Iraq. Of course, your own view of their treatment of Marsh Arabs while working for Saddam would seem to indicate that you didn't think those people were OK. Why is it you're strangely silent about their employment to keep order now that it's the US doing the hiring instead of Hussein?

New You're a moral vacuum, Jake.
You know you're distorting the Ba'athist hiring thing way out of proportion, and you just don't give a damn. You need a straw, and you're grasping it.

You and your frantically wriggling kind have supported Saddam, in the most sincere way possible, first by opposing the effort to depose him, and now by getting all snarky that it was done. We all know where you stand. You love Saddam, and all he stands for.

You have no right to offer moral criticism of anyone about anything. You are morally bankrupt. No one is perfectly good all the time, but few are as consistently evil as you are here.

You're not the judge. You're barely even a defendant anymore. You are even now being condemned. History is the judge, and your own words are damning evidence against you. By your moral support for the overthrown regime, both before and now, you are a willing accomplice in Salman Pak and all the rest. Everything you stand for is even now being consigned to the ash heap of history.

All your cheap moral posturing and tu quoque distortions are like the final defiance of Hermann Goering at Nuremberg. And it will all be remembered in that way.

Yes, it's "victors' justice." Get used to it.

New Back at the Ad Hominem
It's usually pretty easy to tell when one of your ilk runs out of room; they start attacking the person.

At any rate, I've got more important things to spend time on today than bandying words with Wormtongue. Later.

It is much harder to be a liberal than a conservative. Why?
Because it is easier to give someone the finger than it is to give them a helping hand.
