Well beware of Dollar Stores, some items sell for $1 but can be bought for less than a dollar at other stores. I always check the ads before I shop.
We shop at Aldi's or Save-A-Lot for food a lot, cheaper prices. But not always name-brand products, so your milage may vary. Sometimes a local store, Shop-N-Save has frozen Pizzas 5 for $10USD, or $2 each for name brand (Jack's, Tombstone, Red Barron) and the Aldi's Pizza is $2 for generic brand. So we pay attention to the ads a lot. Some supermarkets will meet or beat advertised prices of other supermarkets.
We shop at Big Lots and Value City a lot, discounted stuff that the other stores couldn't sell. Beware of food items, check the expiration date before buying. Sometimes they sell expired food. Our local Sam's Club does this as well, they never check it and then when we buy it, it is about to expire or has expired. Feh!
I never buy a product because of a rebate, there almost always is a catch to it, or it takes a long time (sometimes never) to get the rebate. If I want something, I wait for a sale or it.
