Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Okay, brave enough to ask a few questions. :)
I've been trying to figure some things out about this Forum (site).

1) What does "NT" mean at the end of a post someone makes (when looking at the list, not the post)

2) What does "jump" mean at the end of a post someone makes (same as above), and how do you "jump?" What does it mean?

3) What does right shift mean when people talk about it? Is it literally the posts shifting to the right, when there are too many responses? Or is it something about politics and left and right? And why is right shifting, whatever it is, always considered bad? Is it bad to have lots of activity in a given thread? I got in trouble before for starting adjoining threads, so I guess I'm confused.

4) How do you find a post based on it's post number? Is that a bad way to log what posts I might want to respond to later when I don't have time? Is there a way to "find" a post based on number, because it's really hard to look up and down the list and locate the right number, they don't seem to follow a clear order.

I think that's all for now. Any and all help would be appreciated. :)

It means 'No Text'. If you make a posting with only a subject line, the red NT indicates to others that there's nothing inside.

2) What does "jump" mean at the end of a post someone makes (same as above), and how do you "jump?" What does it mean?

If you click on the 'jump' link, you go directly to that post.

Yes. Has nothing to do with politics, but happens a lot in the politics forum!

That's an excellent way to refer back to posts. All the post URLs follow this convention: http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=XXXX where XXXX= the post number. The post number is simply the sequential number of total posts made, so it's in chronological order throughout the whole site, not within a specific thread or forum.

#1 NT means no text in the body of the message. This simply means it is a blank post with a title only.

#2 Jump means you get to "jump" to the parent post of the thread. Which is of use if you want to view the original post. The screen will then display the current post position in that thread.

#3 When a post gets replied to, it gets shifted to the right in the reply. When a thread gets long, it can get shifted to the right so much that it is almost off the screen.

#4 Post numbers are not part of the Search Forum feature, but you can plug them into a URL to view that post number, like:
[link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=112070|http://z.iwethey.org...?contentid=112070]
Just replace 112070 with the post number you wish to visit. There is a WeeCode to put a post number in for a reference. See here for more info: [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=57396|http://z.iwethey.org...w?contentid=57396]

You've really really been helpful, and especially with how to get to a post number!!!

New 'Jump' tags
Since they are a bit more subtle than the explanations here:

Parent Post [link|http://forums/render/content/show?contentid=112305|#112305] ([link|http://forums/render/content/show?contentid=112305|Jump])

[link|http://forums/render/content/show?contentid=112308|Next Subthread] ([link|http://forums/render/content/show?contentid=112308|Jump])

If you click on the '112305', the entire page gets replaced with that post. If you click on Jump, however, since that post is already somewhere on the page you are viewing, the page will be "jumped" to that post instead of loading a new page. Same with the 'Next Subthread', which represents the next subthread of the same level as the current one, where a subthread is a collection of a post with its responses.

If you don't see a (Jump) next to a link, that means the destination isn't on the current page, so you have to get a new page regardless.

Note that these example links won't work right, since I snipped them from another page.
