I see one possible problem

Only one USB controller is supported. If you need support for two use the IBM base drivers. You may still use CWUSBMSD.ADD.

though I'll try it to see if the scanner works correctly while I wait for the "official" drivers to perculate up on the eCS site.

It appears the last released updates to the USB Basic and USBMSD drivers on SWC was at the begining of the year. I know for a fact that there are improved drivers coming, but when I don't know. IBM moves in strange and mysterious ways.
