The results so far
Got eCS 1.0 installed. Got XP Pro installed. Some issue with installing Mandrake. Will have to fix that later.
Onboard LAN card works. Still haven't gotten around to getting Netware support installed, but it's not that pressing at the moment.
Onboard CT5880 doesn't work with any freely available drivers that I've been able to track down. The driver appears to see the card (at least there are no errors), but I'm not getting any sound. The Play button in the Sound applet is still grayed out, so I assume the card's not working. I don't have access to IBM's SWC nor am I authorized to access anything at the eCS site (don't ask, long story), so I'm up against a wall on this. May have to use the SB Live! card I purchased just in case and disable the onboard CT5880. Not the best choice, but at least SB Live! drivers aren't behind a pay-for-use toll bridge.
All in all, not the most trouble-free install (I probably re-installed at least a dozen times), but at least I've got some sort of OS/2 system running and I can get PMMail to work.
Man, do I have a headache......

When you've got some time....
It would be nice if you could run [link|ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/benchmark/sysb094g.zip|SysBench] on it and summarize the results. I haven't seen any benchmarks on a fast OS/2 system in several years. The fastest system listed in the package is Trevor's dual PPro 233 system from 1998...
TIA!
And congratulations on your success. :-)
Cheers, Scott.

Re: When you've got some time....
I couldn't get it to finish the PM-Graphics section. It wouldn't complete the Text Render part.
On the disk I/O it blows chunks because it's an all IDE system.
For CPU stuff: 1653.186 CPU integer-marks and 400.533 CPU floating point-marks
Other points of interest: 235.589 DIVE-marks and 3919.830 Memory-marks
Here's the Graphics section including the missing Text Render:
Graphics BitBlt S->S copy : 475.578 Million pixels/second BitBlt M->S copy : 88.899 Million pixels/second Filled Rectangle : 7666.752 Million pixels/second Pattern Fill : 3810.259 Million pixels/second Vertical Lines : 41.816 Million pixels/second Horizontal Lines : 1045.874 Million pixels/second Diagonal Lines : 73.671 Million pixels/second Text Render : --.--- Million pixels/second ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : --.--- PM-Graphics-marks
Hope that makes some sense to you. ;-)

Slight correction on something I said.
On the disk I/O it blows chunks because it's an all IDE system.
I should have said, "..blows chunks with the standard IBM IDE driver." I re-ran some of the disk tests with Dani's IDE driver and got much better results. I'll summarize below.
IBM's IDE driver: Disk I/O disk 0-1: 9782 MB - WDC AC310200R Avg. data access time : 16.400 milliseconds Cache/Bus xfer rate : 3.827 Megabytes/second Track 0 xfer rate fwd : 3.911 Megabytes/second Middle trk rate fwds. : 3.908 Megabytes/second Last track rate bwds. : 3.886 Megabytes/second Average Transfer rate : 3.902 Megabytes/second Disk use CPU load : 98.960 percent ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : 23.955 Disk I/O-marks
Disk I/O disk 0-2: 76340 MB - MAXTOR 6L080J4 Avg. data access time : 13.000 milliseconds Cache/Bus xfer rate : 3.890 Megabytes/second Track 0 xfer rate fwd : 3.935 Megabytes/second Middle trk rate fwds. : 3.878 Megabytes/second Last track rate bwds. : 3.913 Megabytes/second Average Transfer rate : 3.909 Megabytes/second Disk use CPU load : 99.700 percent ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : 24.796 Disk I/O-marks
CD-ROM I/O disk 1-1: 606 MB - IDE CDROM Drive Avg. data access time : 89.600 milliseconds Inner sectors rate : 2389.000 Kilobytes/second (~15.9X) Outer sectors rate : 2578.143 Kilobytes/second (~17.2X) CD-ROM use CPU load : 97.130 percent ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : 122.625 CD I/O-marks
Now with Dani's IDE driver:
Disk I/O disk 0-1: 9782 MB - WDC AC310200R Avg. data access time : 16.000 milliseconds Cache/Bus xfer rate : 51.446 Megabytes/second Track 0 xfer rate fwd : 13.044 Megabytes/second Middle trk rate fwds. : 11.947 Megabytes/second Last track rate bwds. : 8.315 Megabytes/second Average Transfer rate : 11.102 Megabytes/second Disk use CPU load : 1.510 percent ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : 75.565 Disk I/O-marks
Disk I/O disk 0-2: 76340 MB - MAXTOR 6L080J4 Avg. data access time : 12.700 milliseconds Cache/Bus xfer rate : 94.971 Megabytes/second Track 0 xfer rate fwd : 40.206 Megabytes/second Middle trk rate fwds. : 35.660 Megabytes/second Last track rate bwds. : 21.411 Megabytes/second Average Transfer rate : 32.426 Megabytes/second Disk use CPU load : 3.910 percent ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : 193.307 Disk I/O-marks
CD-ROM I/O disk 1-1: 695 MB - IDE CDROM Drive Avg. data access time : 90.100 milliseconds Inner sectors rate : 2886.000 Kilobytes/second (~19.2X) Outer sectors rate : 6274.866 Kilobytes/second (~41.8X) CD-ROM use CPU load : 4.180 percent ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Total : 154.891 CD I/O-marks
I checked the SysBench site and those final scores under Dani's driver meet or beat the best scores posted so far.
Pretty slick.....

Daniela Engert's amazing.
She's done so much to support OS/2 on new hardware. Imagine what she could do if IBM was behind her...
Thanks for posting the new numbers. I'm especially impressed by the low CPU load numbers. Those are the type of numbers I'm used to seeing with SCSI systems.
Cheers, Scott.

Yup
I'm especially impressed by the low CPU load numbers. Those are the type of numbers I'm used to seeing with SCSI systems.
And I haven't even gotten around to installing the Tekram driver for the DC-390U2W that's in this system. It's currently driving the Plextor CD-RW. My hope is to add a SCSI CD-ROM drive somewhere along the way so I can really off-load burning to the SCSI chain and not worry about making coasters.
One of these days I might get around to installing a complete SCSI system, but not anytime soon.
Anyway, got lots of things to re-install over the next few days...

She is some kind of genius
It's absolutely amazing. Makes me want to go to Warpstock Europe just to thank her.

Re: She is some kind of genius
Why not not come to Warpstock in San Francisco? She may be there. She's been to the last one. Not sure about the Toronto one though.

She wasn't in Toronto
unfortunately... I was hoping I'd get a chance to add my voice to the chorus.
Have you seen any pics of her? She's a real cutie too....
