Microsoft licensing Unix source code. Soon the four horsemen will appear. :)

But anyway, didn't Microsoft use FreeBSD Unix code in NT? So Microsoft is just trying to get legit and use Unix code without getting sued by SCO like IBM did. Obviously the next Windows will use some SCO Unix code in it. Too bad, I thought it was going to be re-written by scratch.

Shades of Xenix, Microsoft is dealing with SCO again!

Yes, there's BSD code in the NT TCP/IP stack.

Big hairy deal. It's well within the licence, which you haven't read.

Why "Obviously"? Why "Too bad"?

Norm. Here's a clue. Don't use it all at once.

This is not about UNIX code in Windows. <-- Repeat until it goes in.

I'm feeling generous. Here's another one.

This is about a desperate, dying company - SCO - and a not at all desperate or dying one - Microsoft - who, for the time being, have a common agenda.

Help the clueless here, what is their common agenda?

To knock IBM and Linux down a peg? Is Microsoft licensing SCO code just to give SCO the money to stay in business long enough to finish their lawsuit?

To Serve Linux...

...as in Twilight Zone cookbook type of "Serving". :-)

MS makes a cheap investment supporting a company that is very much antagonistic to Linux. SCO wants to gain legitimacy for it's claim that unix is their IP - as in lookey here judge, we got the most pervasive company in the world paying their Unix dues, why won't these others recognize the same?

IOW, it's a legal ploy. MS doesn't really give a dang whether they're street legal. They just want to cause grief for all the Linux vendors that don't pay the SCO lawyer tax. SCO just wants their mafia mobney from every Unix in distribution.
