Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Bugtracking / Proj Mgt. SW experiences: Bugzilla, TUTOS, ??

I've got an opportunity to introduce a free software (Linux) based bugtracking system to my client site. I'm leaning strongly toward Bugzilla despite its complexity for several reasons. It's supported, it's widely used, it's well understood, and it's Debianized.

\r\n\r\n

I've also got an interest in TUTOS, which Greg (chin chin chin) has raved on. Though I'm not sure he's installed it (think he has -- Greg, care to comment, in English ;-).

\r\n\r\n

And there are other tools. TWIT references several at [link|http://twiki.iwethey.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/RequestTracker|RequestTracker] and [link|http://twiki.iwethey.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/ApplicationsProjectManagement|ApplicationsProjectManagement].

\r\n\r\n

What are people here using? What have they installed? What works? What doesn't? What would you do differently?

New TUTOS?? Never heard of it...
I've never installed it, barring an apt-get on knight for perusal... :) gone now... but could be back

But, I am using it currently with a "Job Shop" I am allied with... it seems very usable... somethings I don't like are the way things are done... but that more a matter of me coming from Extensive Novell GroupWise Collabrative stuff... tasking, calendar shares etc...

Was going to deploy it for a company until they decided on *shudder* Exchange...

phpGroupWare seems pretty nice as well... I could put that on Knight as well for us to use... or evaluate...

TUTOS has alot of what everyone wants in a Calendaring setup... missing a few feature but no show stopper yet... but then again it ain't no "Lotus Notes"...

I have it D/Ld... Samsung keep e-mailing me with TONS of feature enhancements and fixes... I ahve never used it yet... BUT I FULLY intend to soon

TUTOS has a working Demo site somewhere... it *WAS* pretty well packed full of bogus info... and still performed good on the slow machine it's on. Dunno about now... Try it...

New Just a link, or are you using that?

A review would be more useful than a link. I can Google as well as anyone.

New Its not OSS and runs on Windows/SQL server
Edit: And yeah I realized after the fact that it was likely a joke. But K does like his FC ;)

New Heeeck no, just a link. A joke, in fact - din'cha geddit?
I thought you were an avid reader of [link|http://www.joelonsoftware.com/index.html|Joel On Software]...? He touts that stuff all the time; that, and his "CityDesk", WeTF that may be.

Anyway, the implied punch-line I was going for was this: If I used any bug-tracking software at all, I certainly wouldn't get it from *him*, that smug-sounding bastard.

[Edit:] And, yeah, as the Geezer points out, it's Windows.

[Edit 2:] Actually, I take that back... At least partially. From [link|http://www.joelonsoftware.com/news/20030203.html|Joel on Software - Monday, February 03, 2003]:
Remember when I wrote that "smart companies try to commoditize their products' complements?" We decided to take some of our own advice, here, so as of today, FogBUGZ can be run on top of MySQL, which is free, in addition to Microsoft SQL Server, which is expensive.
So the Microsoft SQL Server part is out of date. (You listening, Geezer?) Dunno about their software itself, though.

New We seem to use something derived for GNATS
here. Not very advanced, but it works...
