A small bidnessman calls and said I dont trust the guy that works on my shit there is virii all over, kiddie porn and nothing works. I show up yesturday to get is cdburner hooked up. XP unlicensed on white crap boxen with all 4 different printers sharing 1 usb port, a scanner that doesnt work and an WIN2k box that whirrs and gigs that taskman wont run on. Right, get thee hence and buy a copy of Win2k, another hard drive and norton. I show up a 2pm. FORGET WHAT A OS DESTROYING MOTHER FUCKER WIN2K IS AND LEAVE THE ORIGINAL XP HD POWERED UP. Of course the cocksucker overwrites the boot sector of both the XP original disk as well as the one I installed on. No biggie except the onboard network card is no longer recognised and the scuzzi card for the scanner is unrecognised and of course there is no FUCKING install media for ANY of this SHIT!!!!! So go crawling on the old drives for INF files, find the nic hold my breath, it goes in. 25 TWAIN entries but no INF Files. Get on Kodaks site and get the driver, it whines about too old. * hrs into a 4 hr job the SHIT DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!!!. Owners sez, the other guy didnt have this trouble, I said the other guy has the install media and the drivers WTF dont YOU have them. Back on monday to redo the fucking thing because he claims he has disks at home. It is company property, and if he borrowed it to install at home, he should have brought it back. This is why I usually make backup copies of every CD that I get, just in case the original ones take a walk somewhere. That is what CDR/CDRW drives are for. You never know when some dimwit is going to take the install media home, or hide it, or misplace it. I feel for you Box, I do. I've had that happen to me in the past before when I was a PC Specialist, before the Internet was popular, and when we used to get on the long distance BBS systems that IBM, Compaq, and others had to download the drivers from. IBM PS/2 Configuration disks were the hardest to get, or rather the option disks to use with the Configuration disks were the hardest to get. Without them we could not configure the PS/2 systems and the Microchannel cards. Microchannel, now there was a good idea, if you lost the option disk for the card, you were SOL unless you found it or downloaded another one.
