New Didn't you guys always use the term Pussars for RN ?
That is the way all RN Brits I know, describe the RN, even in Oz we knew & used that term.

It is an old word dating back to the earliest days of the RN when it was manned by jolly jack-tar(s). There is a bar (or a brand of Rhum, or both) on an Island in the caribean called Pussars & I wondered if the word related somehow to Rum & the traditional Rum tot (was that still being done in your days? - Senior Service fags & a tot of raw Rhum (I understood it was so thick it was cut with a knife as it was poured, as well as being so overproof it needed extensive watering down - I heard it was also used to heal wounds + raise the dead (for one last fight))).

AS for Naafi - not really related to my post other than Naafi fed people shyte <grin>

But the idiot my barb was aimed at just earned it yet again in World Conflict Forum

Cheers

New we were matelots, a pussar is the pursor who holds the cash
liquor and stores (and has dates with certain crewman in the old male only navy) getting powdered for the pussar was a phrase I heard when dolling up to go out. On payday you had a pay assembly where you marched up by ranks, bellowed out your name and number and the pussar gave you your biweekly sum of eleven quid 50pence. Saluted and marched back to rank.
matelots generic tars, pussar officers in charge of money and liquor.
