Price gouging at the gas pump
The Attorney General of Michigan has set up a web site (ag.state.mi.us) and phone number (1-877-SOLVE88) for people to report gas stations charging over $2.00/gallon during the crisis.

Gas OK here
But I'm am glad I filled up Monday.
There was one local report of a station charging $5.00 a gallon, but they quickly backed off.

No problems here...
$1.87 a gallon for the cheap stuff; same as yesterday morning.
And I need to fill up the tank on the way home, too.

Texas AG...
...also set up to report and prosecute price gouging. Personally, I think the $5/gallon gas is just an Urban Legend. Locally, WalMart actually reduced their prices yesterday.
Gas is still considerably cheaper here in Texas than the rest of the country, ranging from $1.35 to $1.45 per gallon. Helps being near production and refineries, I suppose.

Urban Legend
Actually, one station here had their price jacked up to $6.00 (SIX) a gallon. Back down to $1.99 today. District manager claimed that it was an unauthorized price and that no gas was sold at that price.

Wasn't an urban legend here
The gas station involved quickly backtracked, though. Oh, and technically, I think it was only $4.99 or $4.89 or something like that.

Out of Regular/MidGrade, Plenty of Super
The Texas I visited in Frisco had lines, out of Regular/MidGrade (Unleaded), but they had plenty of Super at $1.67, so we filled up.
There were gas lines at most stations on my 50 mile trip home yesterday, but no gas lines today. I did not stop to see if it was because everyone filled up yesterday (so everyone has a full tank), or if most of these stations were out of gas. I think there's plenty of gas, just a bunch of scared people yesterday.
I will have to fill up tomorrow, 'cause I'm down to 1/3 tank. (3 days, 1 tank, 300 miles).

Re: Out of Regular/MidGrade, Plenty of Super
but they had plenty of Super at $1.67, so we filled up. SUPER at $1.67?!?!?! Damn, must be nice. I just filled up tonight at $1.84 for the regular (lowest-grade) stuff. 15.6 gallons, over $25.

In NE Illinois...
..Gas was already at $2.00/gal (and higher) BEFORE the crisis.
Will the Michigan AG do anything for us?

But the Illinois AG might.

$.10 raise here in Seattle.
Average pump price went up ~10 cents here overnight. I know because when I was driving home yesterday, I was making a note of the prices against what was coming.
I wouldn't call it gouging yet.
