This '51 movie at least limned the question: "how do you stop yourselves from suicidal actions.." (when you are at least honest enough to admit that you have a tendency towards such) ?

Gort the robot was of course - the Deus-ex which fills in for any homo-sap having yet a very good idea of how we save ourselves from ourselves. The dilemma may not be answerable, but the Q is as valid today as in '51 - the UN was a start, as was the powerless League of Nations.. all indicating that 'we' realize we have a Problem.

But we are not yet ready for self-government, it appears. Only Nationalism, My Clan vs Your Clan and the usual cant.

You got a better idea for survival of the species VS the ~50K nukes + our hysterical habits of brandishing same? Any original thought at all?
