And if yer an average Murican.. well, check out how many are unclear about 'West', about Afghanistan and... the Pacific Ocean (Oh.. and for ONE-in-NINE: the locale of the USA).
(No wonder we gots Repos akshully convincin a few folk that compassionate is a suitable modifier.. for Them! I mean, when ya aren't sure where West is, can East be far behind in uncertainty? Don't we call that, "asea"? :-)

Only missed one
I didn't think Christianity was the most common religion. The majority of American youth got that one right, but based on their results overall I'd imagine that has more to do with their general expectaion that whatever we do is the best/biggest.

I wasn't sure.
But I picked it anyway.
I agree that there could be inaccurate ways of accounting for it, but I also suspect that there are a lot more Christians in third-world countries than most Westerners suspect. Over a third of all Catholic cardinals are African, for instance. I think it's a third.

Interesting bit
That the average young American doesn't know much geography doesn't surprise me. That 30% couldn't find the Pacific Ocean is just sad. But what I noticed was this. Americans who reported that they accessed the Internet within the last 30 days scored 65 percent higher than those who did not. I'm not sure if that means people using the Internet learn more or where better educated to begin with, probably both. Jay

Same thing. I missed one.
I was under the impression that Islam is the world's largest religion.
Other than that, I thought most of the questions were far too easy. Particularly the geography ones. Half of the available choices weren't even on the correct continent for most of the questions.
Case in point, Argentina. 27% of those surveyed in the US got it right.
If this survey was conducted in the same manner as this test, just guessing would have given you 25% correct.
Narrowing it down to the correct continent would have given you 50% correct.

I missed the one most did, but I have an excuse!
I am a -7.88 which indicates that I accept that "Religion is the Opiate of the People." Hence, I cannot be expected to know too much about medieval superstitions.

Missed the religion. I went against the crowd for Hindu. After all, India is BIG.
Miss the directional. I totally brainlocked and went East. And as I was doing it, I was berating the stupidity of the question!!!
And sorry CRC, I missed Sweden.

Luckily, Finland and Norway weren't among the choices!

Yeah, the test seemed to be set up that way...
If you know the approximate location, the choices are not too confusing.

The Religion Question is Obviously Lame
Is China not counted because there is no state recoginition of religion? Religion is not about numbers in any case. Why not ask, "What religion are people the most passionate about?" It's absurd.

I thought geography (earth writing) was about maps and named topographic features - as in, where are the Taurus Mtns? What the hell do the Taliban have to do with geography?
