How democracy works
[link|http://www.gallup.com/poll/releases/pr021107.asp|You're not a voter if you don't vote]
Excerpt:
The Republican victories in Tuesday's election, which allow the GOP to retain majority control of the House of Representatives, largely resulted from a greater turnout of Republicans than Democrats. The last CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll before the election showed Republicans winning the national congressional vote by a margin of 51% to 45%, virtually identical to the actual voting results, according to preliminary reports. The poll also showed that Republicans expressed greater enthusiasm for the election than did Democrats, and that the projected turnout rate for Republicans was 43%, compared with 36% for Democrats. That larger turnout appears to have provided the margin of victory for the GOP, as independents split their votes almost equally between the two parties.

Let me see if I understand this.
Republicans were elected because they received more votes than their opponents.
The received more votes because more people voted for them.
More people voted for them because more people who voted for them turned up to vote than people who voted for their opponents.
This is considered "insight"?

Rush Was On NBC
He looks pitiful outside his element, that is, his bully fulminating radio pulpit. Tim Rushert was looking at him as if to say - you fat ignorant blowhard! Go get a college degree! Brokaw merely grinned with sly disdain.
I know my own hell - 24/7 of listening to Rush and W debate Christianity to a soundtrack by Creed and Matchbox 20.

I've been trying not to gloat about Tuesday, but...
damn, you make it hard.
That election and the Wellstone funeral together illustrate an important fact about sore losers: they're not just sore because they're losers. They're losers because they're sore.
Me, I'd have liked to see the third parties do better. But you don't hear me whining about it.

Re: I've been trying not to gloat about Tuesday, but...
Sore loser? Go slap a dame!
Your people are stupid, history-ignorant, techno-backward, socially-inept, big-govt, anti-freedom assholes - and now, with no more whining about Congress possible, your idiocy and venality will be visible to everyone from this point on.
Gloat all you want. This is your high-water mark. You and all like you are going down.

Dude, you've seen it before.
Your people are stupid, history-ignorant, techno-backward, socially-inept, big-govt, anti-freedom assholes - and now, with no more whining about Congress possible, your idiocy and venality will be visible to everyone from this point on. We'll see huge military increases with increasing red ink in the budget. The economy will continue downward. But it will all be Clinton's fault.

Well, you've managed to catch the bleeding obvious.
Which is better than you sometimes do. But you still manage - as always - completely to miss the subtleties.
You'll never find your glasses in that dark alley.

There were "subtleties"?
Well, I guess I did miss them.
Perhaps you could explain them?
No, I didn't think you could.
Just keep pretending that this is some "insight" or "revelation".

I didn't think you'd be able to answer.
Because there weren't any.
