New republicans are the drag queens of politics
[link|http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=29549|http://www.worldnetd...?ARTICLE_ID=29549]
The Democrat is open about his devilishness \ufffd he finds the idea of a constitutional government with narrowly delimited powers as repellant as Dracula finds garlic. Modern-day conservatives, on the other hand, are less up front about their aversion to a Jeffersonian republic. In a sense, Republicans are the drag queens of politics. Peel away the pules for family, faith and fetuses and one discovers either, what economist and political philosopher Hans-Hermann-Hoppe calls "neoconservative welfare-warfare statists and global social democrats." Or, conversely, national socialists of sorts, who fuse economic protectionism, populism and a support for the very welfare infrastructure which is at the root of social rot.

The Kicker
Lamb's claim that "freedom begins at the ballot box" isn't valid in a social democracy, where government's confiscatory \ufffd and other \ufffd powers are a work in progress. Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn almost got it right when he said, "Fifty-one percent of a nation can establish a totalitarian regime, suppress minorities and still remain democratic." Correction: All that can be achieved with 51 percent of the voters!

New Precisely, Exactly
Repulicans are not - republicans that is. Their faith lies with large, central, coercive government. A Jeffersonian "Democrat"cy means a federation of autonomous states. The role of the federation is to protect the interests of these states in relation not only to the larger world, but also, and most importantly, the other states! This principle was defeated by force of arms in a war fought from 1861 to 1865, and we are still seeing the bad consequences of radical "Republicanism".

Republicans are centralist radicals, like the French of 1789-92.

New yup.
There are abuses that can occur under either system.

With the Jeffersonian style, the abuses only occur within that state.

On the other hand, for pure world-dominating POWER, you need centralization.
New Don't miss her Other
[link|http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=28307| article], either. A mere teaser -
In such a climate, discourse is debased. From news, to film, to art, to literature \ufffd our cultural products reflect and exalt emotional extremes, lack of inhibitions, exhibitionism and assorted grotesquerie. ("Gay" pride, transexualism, and fetishisms are no longer private proclivities, but are considered lifestyle choices, as well as an essential part of the person, to be celebrated, often on the public purse.)

There are other aspects to a society in which ideas don't count, but the titillating and sensational prevail.

Hmmm.. only other 'Ilana' I know is an Israeli pianist of some years ago - who could toss off Moszkowski as if chopsticks. The peer of any living pianist.. she left the concert game to raise some kids. Saw her live in SF once.

2/2 Interesting Ilanas..

Ashton

Oops: Ilana Vered. I have all her (few) albums. Chopin, Moszkowski fans *must* track down a copy. Or die iggerant of the possibilities.
Maybe.. some Ilana #3 for Pres!
(whoever she be, she Must be an improvement)

New Strange Site
While this person seems to be sane, we also have there Ann Coulter, bona fide nutbag, and Bill O'Reilly. We have Harry Browne sneaking in an ad masquerading -in the open- as a commentary. We have Bible thumpers and book ads for one of our younger demagogues, Sean Hannity. Everyone these days has a book. So why do I never see anyone at the library?

IOW, what do you make of all this? I think it is more pap by and large. The really sane people have no voice and no representation of any kind.

New Worldnet Daily?
Yeah, seems so - though maybe they are dedicated to presenting the usual juxtaposing of extremists in full dudgeon - along with a smattering of actual thought (?) Dunno what their intent might be or how they decide.

A bit more about Ilana's bio (and rather wider cast of net than WND) [link|http://www.ilanamercer.com/Aboutme.htm| here.]

(Hell, today.. I'll wade through a certain amount of juvenile cant - hoping for the occasional Gem. It's that or, just ignore the massive Silliness in toto! Many days I do.)
