Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Exactly the same.
Your browser may have an issue with PNG images.

Both the image background and the body background here are #EAEAEA.

New Run into this problem before on IE
You can not depend on the image color of GIFs or PNGs to match the colors embedded in the html page. It doesn't matter if they have the same RGB setting - #EAEAEA in an image will have slightly different color than #EAEAEA as a background in the html.

Assuming you want to solve the problem - which is really a browser bug - you have two options. Either set the transparency of the image to be #EAEAEA, or worse, set the background to an image that has only one color of #EAEAEA. I've used both approaches in the past for some of my pages.
New One other thing
The background for the iwethey graphic on the suggestion page doesn't seem to have the same background setting as the one on the main forum page.
New Same as far as the Gimp is concerned.
They're both #eaeaea according to the color picker tool.

New Ok, it's just a misperception.
Guess that paper box just makes the color difference more obvious.
New Re: Run into this problem before on IE

I think you answered that right there...

Browser bugs that affect the workings of the site but which can be worked around, well, I will consider those. Something that makes images not quite so spiffy looking in IE... let me just say I find myself with a distressing lack of motivation to fix that one. ;-)

New Third solution
Make a small tile (say 20x20) in your background color and set that as the background image. Then regardless of how the browser handles them, the image and the background image will match because the browser will screw them up the same way.

Note that while I have done this in the past, I am heartily not recommending it.
