Fighter jets escorted a small plane to Charlotte/Douglas International Airport Tuesday after its Egyptian registration raised questions with air traffic controllers.
The three men on the twin-engine Cessna Citation, a small executive jet, were questioned by FBI agents and allowed to go. Federal authorities said they were satisfied the plane did not pose a security threat, and they don't expect to file charges against the three.
Chris Swecker, who heads the FBI in North Carolina, said the men, all U.S. citizens, were flying from Columbia to Colorado Springs, Colo., to sell the plane.
Apparently one cannot fly like an Egyptian. :)
